The Aexcel designation
Aexcel is a label for specialist doctors who are part of the Aetna network and who have met certain criteria for clinical performance and efficiency - for inclusion in the Aetna Performance Network. There are many ways to evaluate physician practices and the Aexcel information we offer you is intended to be a guide for you when you choose a physician.

Find a Doctor

It’s easy with DocFind®.

When you enroll in the Aetna EPN Plan, you will be utilizing the Aetna SelectSM (Open Access®) network.  How do you find the best provider for you? It’s easy – just use
EPN Custom DocFind, a version of Aetna's standard online provider lookup tool that has been customized to the specifics of the Verizon EPN Plan.

Go to the "General Search" section of the EPN Custom DocFind home page
(This site is customized to the specifics of the Verizon EPN Plan. To perform lookups under other Aetna plans, go to the general DocFind site linked to Aetna’s public website at www.aetna.com.)

  1. Select Geographic Information
(look up by Zip Code, City, or County)
  2. Select the Provider Category
    (medical, dental, hospitals, etc.)
  3. Select the Provider Type
    (Primary Care, Specialist, etc.)
  4. Select the Plan Type - “EPN”

If desired, you may check the “Additional Search Criteria” box to narrow the search by specialty, name, hospital affiliation, etc.

  5. Click on "Start Search"

Go to EPN Custom DocFind.

For each doctor, DocFind provides information about credentials and practice, including education, board certification, languages spoken, office location and hours, and parking and handicapped access.  Recently, Aetna expanded the information available at DocFind to include costs and clinical quality and efficiency facts for specific doctors – information never before made available to consumers.

Provider names listed on DocFind are current as of the date you perform the provider search, but are subject to change with regularly scheduled data maintenance updates.  It is suggested that you call your provider at the time of service to validate network status.

Questions regarding network providers for the EPN medical plan may be directed to Member Services by using the 'Contact Us' feature on Aetna Navigator™ or by calling Aetna Member Services at
